Murphy’s ‘Anthropomorphism & Husbandry’ (2003-4) series explores suggestive and ambiguous words and phrases associated with country shows and competitions.
These sly ‘accolades’ offer playful and irreverent comments upon a variety of values and prized characteristics displayed in both human and animal behaviour and relations.
Created to complement the mixed media installation ‘The Art of Tickling Trout & Other Sensual Pleasures’, her awards also function independently as performative interventions and limited edition collectable works.
This work was commissioned by ArtSway and formed part of their Navvygate Artist Residency scheme.
